Sustainable Southbury is an environmental conservation group working to transform Southbury into a green sustainable community. This organization hosts several initiatives in Town. Once a month, Sustainable Southbury holds an event at 800 Main Street to collect recyclable lens solution bottles. Additionally, they have repositors at the Southbiru Transfer Station to collect food waste. Food waste accounts for nearly 30% of all waste that goes into landfills. By collecting just food craps, this food can be returned to the earth as compost and can create soil filled with nutrients. Finally, Sustainable Southbury hosts the Green Energy Fair annually which is a super event filled with local organizations and vendors. The event happens during the spring each year.
Sustainable Southbury will assist, advise, educate and help drive action by municipal leaders, residents and businesses. Contact 203-586-9078 or info@sustainablesouthbury.org for additional information.
